VIRTUAL VISITA IGLESIA

You are invited to participate
in our Virtual Visita Iglesia

The Visita Iglesia (or “Seven Churches Visitation”)
is a longstanding Catholic Lenten Tradition
in many countries
where the faithful visit seven churches
on the evening of Holy Thursday
to pray before the Blessed Sacrament.

CHURCH OF SAN AGUSTIN IN PAOAY, ILOCOS NORTE

Thanks to technology,
we can collectively participate
in a Virtual Visita Iglesia
at our convenience.

As one faith community,
we shall visit and pray
in seven churches
all over the world.

These churches have been selected
because they are located in the cities
that have been worst hit by the coronavirus disease.
In no particular order,
these are the cities that have posted
some of the highest number of deaths
as a result of the coronavirus:

WUHAN (China)

MADRID (Spain)

LONDON (United Kingdom)

TEHRAN (Iran)

MILAN (Italy)

NEW YORK (United States)

PARIS (France)

As you visit each church,
make sure to include in your prayers
those who have died in that country,
as well as the sick and the teams of medical doctors and workers
who selflessly continue to toil away
to serve the patients entrusted to them.

At every church, you may do
any of the following:

Recite two Stations of the Cross per church.
You may want to use our recent
WAY OF THE CROSS IN A TIME OF PANDEMIC.

Or you may pray one decade of Sorrowful Mysteries
of the Holy Rosary per visit.

Or, you may also recite one Lord’s Prayer,
one “Hail Mary,” or one “Glory be”

for a special intention in every church.

There will be an eighth optional church
for you to visit in case you want to pray
in a special way for the Philippines.

If you are ready to begin
your Virtual Visita Iglesia,

play the video below.
Make sure to use full screen, if you can.

The video will pause automatically
at every church

to give your time for your prayers.
Resume only after your prayers.

After your Visita Iglesia,
feel free to share your experiences
or observations below.

All in God’s hands, all in God’s time – we need to trust, truly trust, lay it all at the foot of the Cross and rest in His hands.

Thank you for this gift of being able to visit the churches – it rekindled fond childhood memories and inspired renewed devotion.

God bless us all!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this online Visita Iglesia. It was both a beautiful and sad experience.

This is a totally new experience. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of it. Praise the Lord!

Thank you for this virtual Visita Iglesia. In seeing the number of those who have been infected & passed away, one can feel as if we have been left by our Lord. However, the presence of these churches only show that He is there. We have put Him on lockdown from our hearts. We need to open our hearts to Him to allow Him to save & heal us.

Thank you for this opportunity. We were not able to go on a visita iglesia physically, but this is certainly spiritually uplifting, especially at this time. We prayed two station of the cross in the time of pandemic in every church. Again thank you and God bless.

Thank you for sharing this virtual Visita Iglesias .. it’s like I visited 7churches in a few minutes .. thank you and God bless. Pray for the end of Covid19 by Easter Sunday. Amen?

Thank you for this Virtual Visita Iglesia, and the opportunity to pray for people around the world whose lives have been impacted, in one way or another, by the coronavirus.

We should not be half hearted faithful especially this pandemic time. Got this from our retreat with Fr. Munching and I always keep this in mind: A lot of kneeling will keep us in good standing. Thank you for the virtual Visita Iglesia also.

Thank you for this virtual Visita Iglesia. It gave me the opportunity to visit foreign churces and pray for the lives lost from covid 19. Truly we can be ONE in times of crisis

Thank you for providing us with this virtual Visita Iglesia. I’m on my 3rd year of doing my personal Visita Iglesia every Maundy Thursday, and was able to visit other churches in the world without leaving my bedroom.
Thank you also for giving me the opportunity to pray for others through your platform.

Thank you po for the grace to do a virtual Visita Iglesia. Praying for God’s blessing and protection for everyone, with Mary, our Mother.

Thank you Lord for this opportunity to have time with you. May you continue to be with us in every journey. Please bless those who made this Holy Thursday prayer time possible amidst this health crisis.

Thank you for the virtual Visita de Iglesia, though we are not allowed to go out and be in church still i can feel the essence of what Holy week is, to commemorate the way of the cross that Jesus experienced and to be able to pray for others especially the places that are greatly affected by pandemic Coronavirus. May all people bow down with bended knees to ask help and acknowledge God as our only source of healing.

Thank you for the opportunity of a virtual Visita Iglesia. This made me realize to pray more for others along with me personal intentions. Deeply grateful and peaceful knowing that I prayed for more people today than I ever did. Will do another round of the visita iglesia again now.

Thank you, all involved in th production of this site= the retreat as well as th “visita iglesia”! May God reward your efforts with health, and His Peace and Joy in you! I look forward to the nxt segments of th retreat.

Excellent thank you. Your spiritual insights were deep and provide a lot of time for mediation and contemplation. The music, video, and pictures added to making this one of my best Holy thursday and guided mediation ever. God bless.

Thank you for this global visita iglesia of the places most affected by COVID19. It allows me to be in solidarity with those who suffer most and makes me more mindful in offering this Holy Week to all those affected by this disease – physically, socially, economically. As the prophet says, “By his wounds, you were healed.” May we all be healed – together as one global and planetary community.
