Zechariah is the father of John the Baptist, visited by the angel about his son and understandably caught by surprise. We are told that he and his wife are “advanced in years.” How old would that be? 70 or 80 years old would be a good guess!
Read the familiar story of how the angel visited him in the temple: Remember to read between the lines, imagining how the event transpired and especially how Zechariah must have thought and felt.
If it helps, play this instrumental piece as you read the passage and reflect on it. Try not to proceed to the next section until the music ends.
