THE STONE, THE ANGEL, AND THE EMPTY TOMB

The very first recipients of the Easter news
were the women who were there for the washing.

Remember, because of all the rush
to bury his body before Sabbath,
Jesus was buried
without the prescribed anointing.

So, early on that first Easter Sunday morning,
the women went over to the tomb of Jesus,
and–to put it mildly–
were not expecting what they found.

Try to recreate the scene in your mind,
exerting a special effort to see and feel
what these first messengers of the Resurretion
saw and felt.

Play this instrumental music
to guide your reading and prayer.

Stay with the scene while the music continues,
savoring what you saw and what you felt
as you were contemplating this scene.
