Welcome to a Different Stations of the Cross

The Wounded Way:
Soundtrack of the Cross

Welcome to The Wounded Way: Soundtrack of the Cross.

You are about to embark on a different kind of Stations of the Cross—fewer words, more silence, one song for every station.

The songs have been picked to make up a “soundtrack”: Their words are interpreted to relay a relevant Lenten message, but their music can also help set the tone as you accompany the Lord to His cross.

You can listen to each song either by watching a YouTube video or by listening to it on Spotify.
Every Station begins with a short song called “Behold the Wood.”

As you listen to it, take a moment to imagine cupping your heart in your hands: all your needs and fears, but also all your hopes and aspirations—as well as all the people you love in this world.

Carry this heart and this world with you as you walk with our Lord on His wounded way to Calvary.

Slow down and linger at every Station. There is a gift there waiting to be unwrapped.

Now, let’s pray for this grace: “Lord, show me Your face today!”

The First Station

I. Jesus is condemned

Behold the wood of the Cross…

Pause and hold your heart and the world in your hands.

Jesus is handed His cross—and with it, His fate to die a terrifying and agonizing death.

What was our Lord thinking? Why did He agree to die for us? What came over Him in Gethsemane and made Him finally say, “Thy Will be done”

It’s not really all that difficult to understand. We get it. There are times when we agree to suffer for others, to go through pain for the sake of someone we love.

That’s what the Lord did.

Imagine our Lord taking a deep breath as He accepted our cross, saying “Yes” to the unimaginable pain and suffering because of His love and His desire to save us.

Spend a few moments telling the Lord how you feel, to thank Him for saying “Yes” to bear our cross.

The song for this Station is “Just Say Yes.

Our Lord Jesus said “Yes,” but He is asking us to do the same: Are you willing to say “Yes” to Him and accept His love?

Feel free to share your thoughts, questions, and prayers below.
